چکیده

Introduction. Cannabis sativa is a source of oil seeds for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food uses. Objective. The aim this study to evaluate the hypolipidemic effect hemp seed (HSO) obtained from local ecotype called “Beldiya.” Methods. extraction HSO was carried out by cold press method. Then, fatty acid tocopherol composition analyzed, respectively, GC-FID HPLC. activity at dose 3.5 7 mg/kg body weight evaluated in Triton WR-1339-induced hyperlipidemic mice measuring plasma cholesterol (total lipid, HDL, LDL), triglycerides, atherogenic index using enzymatic methods. Fenofibrate used as standard drug weight. Results. Analyzed shows high unsaturated acids’ content with dominance linoleic (48.85%), oleic (21.82%), well α- γ-linolenic (14.72%). result demonstrates that typical vegetable contains concentration γ-tocopherol (456 mg·kg−1 oil). Furthermore, administration decreases total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol while increases HDL-cholesterol. Consequently, reduces LDL/HDL ratio. fenofibrate relatively more marked comparatively especially concerning its LDL fraction. Conclusions. has an interesting on lipid parameters might be beneficial treatment hyperlipidemia prevention atherosclerosis.

Hypolipidemic effect of seed oil of noni (Morinda citrifolia).

Morinda citrifolia, has been reported to posses different biological activities and almost all parts of this have been studied phytochemically. However there are few studies on the seeds of fruit. The objective of present study was investigated the effect to Noni Seed Oil (NSO) on serum lipid levels in normolipidemic and hyperlipidemic induced mice. We find that administration of noni oil cause...

Micronized fenofibrate: a new fibric acid hypolipidemic agent.

OBJECTIVE To review the efficacy and safety of fenofibrate in the management of hyperlipidemias. DATA SOURCES A MEDLINE search (1974-October 1998), Current Contents search, additional references from article bibliographies, and the package insert from the manufacturer were used to identify data for evaluation. Studies evaluating fenofibrate (peer-reviewed publications, package insert data) we...

Lack of covalent binding to rat liver DNA of the hypolipidemic drugs clofibrate and fenofibrate.

14C-labelled clofibric acid and fenofibric acid were administered p.o. to 200 g male and female rats. After 10 h, liver nuclear DNA and protein were isolated and the radioactivity was determined. Binding to protein was clearly measurable whereas no binding to DNA could be detected from any drug. A comparison of the limit of detection of such DNA binding with well-known chemical carcinogens reve...

Hypolipidemic effect of avocado (Persea americana Mill) seed in a hypercholesterolemic mouse model.

Avocado seed contains elevated levels of phenolic compounds and exhibits antioxidant properties. We investigated the effect of Avocado Seed Flour (ASF) on the lipid levels in mice on a hyperlipidemic diet. The concentration of phenols was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography, antioxidant activity was evaluated using the Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity method, and dietary ...

Differential effect of hypolipidemic drugs on lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2.

OBJECTIVE Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is a predictor for incident atherosclerotic disease. We investigated the effect of 3 hypolipidemic drugs that exert their action through different mechanisms on plasma and lipoprotein-associated Lp-PLA2 activity and mass. METHODS AND RESULTS In 50 patients with Type IIA dyslipidemia were administered rosuvastatin (10 mg daily), where...
